Hi! So yesterday my mom and I attended the first ever South African Hijab Fashion Week held at the V&A Waterfront. The organiser, Abashiya Achilles of Fabulous in Hijab has been a family friend for as long as I can remember, and my mother and I were one of the first few clients to her and her sister Gadija Khan of GKD.
It started off with us being shown into the Imbizo Clock Tower, where I had a lot of fun in the lift with my mom because of the mirror arrangements. Can you say, selfie?
We then got seated and after introductions were made the models showcased designs from both Accentuate and Fabulous in Hijab, ranging from swim and active wear to casual followed by evening wear. I really loved the atmosphere, it's not everyday that we're surrounded by fellow fabulous and trendy Hijabi sisters. It was amazing to see everyone's unique style and personality shine through their scarf style.
One of the most exciting moments, for me, was getting to meet Saara Adams, of Minimal Exposure. Maximum Style, and the best part? She knew me by name (*o*) I was totally fangirlin' at that moment
Exactly like this, only it was in my head :D
Overall, I had a beautiful afternoon, loved the company and the styling was superb. I give it 8/10.
